Jersey Village haunted house: Behind the Scenes.

When the tides of festive creepiness and scares are high, Jersey Village High School Theater gets deep into the water. Jersey Village High School Theater hosted a haunted house on Thursday and Friday October 26 and 27, 2023. We wanted to go a little bit deeper on the behind the scenes of the Haunted house and to see how the director got the ideas for it and how it is compared to a professional one.

Mrs. Norfleet, the director, did a very good job on coming up with the ideas for it. We wanted to go a little deeper and see how she did it? “So between [Codirector] Ms. Sproles and I we have about 5 tech classes and so we pulled them and said hey what’s scary to you right now, what’s the scariest movie, what’s the creepiest thing you can think of,” said Norfleet.

Theater does the JV haunted house every year, so how does the last haunted house differ from the new one? “It has totally different layouts, new scenes, and even scarier areas,” Norfleet said. It’s crazy to imagine all the different ideas theater has every year for this haunted house.

This is theater’s second time doing the haunted house. Each time since the first one has always had a different theme. “No, it has totally different layouts, new scenes, and even scarier areas,” Norfleet said. Norfleet and Sproles has helped the students improve from last year.

This is the theater’s second time doing the haunted house. Was it more successful than last year’s? “Last year we learned a lot and we had a lot of areas that we had like too much space and so this year we learned a lot by making it a little smaller and more scary so I would say this was more successful than last year’s,” Norfleet said.

Ash Jacinto, a freshman, attended the Jersey Village haunted house and a professional one in Houston. “The JV haunted house was obviously underfunded compared to the other one I went to, but it was really good for what they had,” said Jacinto, “Honestly, I got more scared in the JV haunted house compared to the other one.”

JV theater will once again take a nice dip into the spooky waters and bring out the treasure filled with different ideas for next year.
