Working with a peer, Kaleb Velez, senior, exemplifies his eagerness to work and share his new ideas pertaining to PBS. “When I found out that I was one of the PBS journalists of the year, I nearly jumped out of my seat in English. I was so excited, a wave of emotions passed over me. It’s an incredible honor, and I’m so grateful to PBS for giving me this award,” Velez said.

In a showdown against the Cy Falls Eagles, wide receiver Mario Guzman, senior, races down the field looking back to locate the football. Last year, the Falcons defeated the Eagles in stunning win, but this year they fell short losing 42-0. Guzman scored four rushing touchdowns and averaged 11.6 yards a game this season. Overall this season, the Falcons scored 18 rushing touchdowns and finished the overall season 4-6, and 3-5 in their district.

Kids at the Bookworm Festival, hosted by Jersey Village High School, could take part in any of the following as they (or the chaperones) wished: coloring bookmarks, drawing and coloring on the bookworm graffiti wall, taking photos with silly masks and picture frames, and even spinning the prize wheel. Children took particular interest in creating buttons embellished with the images of popular children’s book characters, with guidance from the volunteers, of course.
