Inspired by history, Joshua Lay (left), junior, and Genoveva Hernandez (right), junior, took creative liberties during their time at the Fine Arts Festival in modeling their pieces as closely as possible to the originals. While Lay faced the transfer of dimensions and perspective of the original 3D Olmec mask onto a 2D canvas, Hernandez restrained herself from blending together the colors. “It was difficult to stay consistent, to keep going. After working all day, I was really tired and just trying to get through,” Hernandez said.

Swaying his arms and moving his body to the beat, George Welch, junior, enjoys the band’s beat as they try and keep the crowds energy up. “I enjoy the people that I play with because besides all the arguments and yelling, we’re all family and that’s what mattered the most,” Welch said.
