These days, a lot of people choose to eat at fast food restaurants. Sure, fast food tastes wonderful, but how much of it is appropriate to eat?
Fast food restaurants have been around since 1921, and the majority of us have enjoyed them. However, as we know, it’s genuinely very ¨unhealthy.¨
In terms of my thoughts around fast food restaurants, I would say that I hope people avoid eating there often or at least not more than once a week.
Due to fast food restaurants being very popular in America, a lot of people tend to eat it. Which ties with how fast food isn’t good for our bodies.
Overall, the issue with fast food restaurants is mainly about health. With how I just mentioned the popularity of fast food in America, it’s likely that many Americans happen to have a health problem like diabetes. Some of these problems can take years off life, increase heart disease, problems with movement, bone health, and reproduction.
Prior to how often we should eat from fast food restaurants, the matter deals heavily with health.
Their meals are extremely low on fiber, which doctors associate with a high risk of digestive problems such as diverticular disease and constipation, as well as reductions in healthy gut bacteria (Medicalnewstoday.com). For most healthy people, eating fast food once a week won’t really affect them unless they have health issues. Sauza says, ¨Years of daily fast food consumption will lead to excess weight, fat gain, and increased risk of chronic diseases.¨ (Parade.com)
More so than the main factors for why fast food can be so addicting are the taste, cheapness, and convenience for when not wanting to cook or on the go.
¨The problem is that the fast food industry purposefully makes fast food highly palatable, packing it with salt, fat, and sugar, along with powerfully delicious smells to keep us coming back for more,¨ Gargona says. (livestrong.com)
Now I understand that when it comes to fast food, health problems usually come up within it. I know it’s probably the same old news, but as I previously mentioned, a lot of people get fast food nowadays. A lot of people seem to not really care when it always gets brought up on the topic. Some people may even say that their body works differently, for example, some people have a high metabolism.
But within research and my knowledge, it’s gotten me to know that there’s been an increase in people starting to get health problems because of what they eat and their lack of movement. By eating a little bit of everything that is nutritious and exercising for at least an hour every day, it is said that’s what makes part of a normal diet.
To better support on the subject of fast food, one of our students has stated how they feel about it: ¨I feel that their not good for you at all because it’s only like, makes you, like, have bad health, but it also has a lot of chemicals and their cheap, and it’s so easy to buy.¨ (Genis Lima, freshman at jv)
An admin member has commented, ¨Always try to watch, you know, watch the carbohydrates, what you´re eating, and the fat, and, usually, if you can avoid the fatty processed foods, typically the healthier choice.¨ (Baird, Angela, nurse at jv)
A staff also did a suggestion of when going out, ¨I do think there are some healthy options of fast food like subway, so maybe if people eat fast food then they can try healthier choices when they go out.¨ (McCormick, Ebony teacher here at jv) These three quotes acknowledge that fast food isn’t healthy and offer their suggestions, as well as sharing their thoughts.
The most logical conclusion we can draw from this evidence is that the food from fast food restaurants should be eaten less often because people’s well-being is greatly affected by it.
One of the last things I would recommend others do after reading this is to start acknowledging their eating style and see how to improve it. I´m not saying everyone should eat only vegetables either; a bit of everything is the casual answer in order to maintain better health, as well as some movement throughout the day.
With that being said, what eating habits do you tend to constantly do, that you might want to change?
